HGTV House Hunters Renovation
One day I received a phone call. Would I consider doing an episode of HGTV's House Hunters Renovation? It was a fun experience, allowing me to meet a lovely couple who had just purchased a very old, run-down home. Could I help them create a beautiful kitchen and great room? Look at the before and after photos above.
You really can't appreciate the finished kitchen without taking a look at the before photo below. There was carpeting in the kitchen. I've never seen that before.I brought in Don Boline of Concept Builders who graciously agreed to support this project. With my design and his building expertise we transformed the kitchen. Structurally, we closed up the doorway you see in the picture below and opened up a wall between the kitchen and living area to make this kitchen cook.
The homeowners had a special dining table that they wanted to fit into the small kitchen. Opening up the wall between the kitchen and living area made the space less cramped. A fun chandelier and custom window coverings add interest.
The photo below shows what things looked like before construction started. There was a small doorway between the kitchen and living area. The paneling was removed from the window wall to unify the space.
I'm more at ease behind the camera but I loved working on the HGTV set. The team was so nice and the homeowners were especially appreciative of all our help. Thank you, HGTV, for putting design into the hearts and minds of homeowners everywhere.
